Northcote Water Polo Club “The Krakens” Charter
Who we are
The Northcote Water Polo Club -- “The Krakens” -- is a community sporting club based in Melbourne’s inner North. We support water polo at all skill levels and ages and are managed by a committee appointed by members.
We are an incorporated association registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria, A0108604Q; and with the Australian Business Register, ABN 47 825 387 892. Our full name is Northcote Water Polo Club Incorporated.
How we work
We value inclusion, well-being, teamwork and fun. We aim to be a welcoming space.
We promote and encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship: creating opportunities for our players to be their best.
Our purpose
We exist to inspire a love for water polo and create lasting friendships through training, participation in competitive games and travel to regional and interstate events. We also provide opportunities for non-members to experience water polo in a safe and friendly environment. We coordinate social gatherings, and work to raise community visibility of the sport and our club, with particular emphasis on youth participation.
Club funds
We are a not-for-profit organisation funded by members, sponsors and grants. Club monies are used to support running costs and purchase or maintenance of equipment. We do not distribute profits to members in financial or other means. Where possible we will use surplus funds to ensure cost is not a barrier to participation and to invest in further club development. Income and assets may not be distributed to members.
Winding-up clause
In the event of the club ceasing to operate through cancellation or winding-up of the incorporated association, surplus assets will be used for charitable purposes or distributed to another related organisation, such as another club or sporting body at the discretion of the committee.
