Details of upcoming tournaments and carnivals are here. These are additional to the state league competition and run separately.
Geelong Tristate 15 - 16th Feb 2025
Held at Kardinia Aquatic centre this is Victorian Water Polo's premier underage carnival. Run by Geelong Marlins it draws clubs from NSW/VIC and Tas. Northcote has been attending this carnival since our current U16s started as U12s.
It's a great fun weekend for everyone and a great chance for the newer players to get 5 games under their belt and see immediate improvements. We like to get a club atmosphere going with those staying down considering the Big 4 park, just 5 minutes away, and after a hard days water polo, a club dinner is a great way to relax.
If we can't get full teams of 10 we will join with other clubs (e.g. Wodonga for the girls last year).
As has been the case at past Tri-State tournaments:
- 12U mixed sides must consist of at least 3 girls and at least 3 boys
- Players may only play in one team for the weekend
- Players must play at least 1 game on the Saturday to qualify for finals on the Sunday
- Only one team per club per age group may be entered
- If you have additional players we will look to accommodate them in teams so they can still play.
- EOI by 13 December
Costs:
- Payment by Friday 20th December $950 per team
- Friday 10th January the fee will be $1050 per team
- Friday 17th January it will be $1150 per team.
Plus Coach and referee per game
Age Groups:
- 12U mixed cut off year 2013
- 14U girls/boys cut off year 2011
- 16U girls/boys cut off year 2009
This year there are two interstate options for the club due to WP Aus scheduling AYC over the school week for QLD and Vic. QLD WP have extended an invite to Vic clubs to join them in their state titles in the school holidays. There is a need to get to 10 players plus coach and team manager.
Water Polo QLD State Championships

Entry fees are approximately $3500 per team, 5 Days 2 games per day including finals and runs as two divisions (Gold and Green)
Loose early estimates put the cost pp at around $2000-3000 pp for a team of 10, doing it in shared accomodation, as a team. If a hotel is used you can expect that to go up signifcantly depending on your choice. As its Easter things may go up on return flights.
Once we have an idea of numbers we determine the following:
- Team submission: Experience shows that you need to get a full team together (10+) prior to attending, with a goalie. Its also a requirement the team has a Coach and a team manager. If the team cannot be built then the following can be applied:
- Merge with another team: Carried out last time when we combined with Uni Qld Barras
- Draft: Individuals submit themselves.
- Teams that have nominated for players .
- Player distribution is determined by WP AUS.
- We picked up a player from this last year
Pool are located around Perth.
